I grew up and lived in Sioux City, IA with my parents and brother and sister.   Sioux City was noted for their packing plants and stock yards.  It was divided into three states; Iowa, Nebraska and S.D.  I had three kids before I got out of the Navy.   I lived there until I joined the Navy at 18 yers old.  I migrated south to Tulsa, OK; then to Abaline, TX and from their I went to Wichita, KS where I worked for Lear Jet.

   

 

While working at Lear I got to fly 3 times.  I met movie stars and famous people such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicholis and John Denver.   The Shaw of Iran came to my plant to purchase a fleet of Lear Jets.  From there I went to Kansas to work in the bread industry

I was a 3rd class Petty Officer and worked in the printing department aboard ship.  My ship was the U.S.S. Hornet.  It is an Anti Submarine Aircraft Carrier protecting the attack fleet.  

Cambridge Airport Airshow

My home port was Yokuska Japan.  We would be in port two months at a time and then out to see to perform manuevers.  We had a real close call when we were in the Sea of Japan with Russian Trollers.  Our West PAC depoyment included stops Japan, Hong Kong, Phillipenes and Hawaii.
